Danny Jansen Has Fracture In His Wrist
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen (wrist) has been diagnosed with a fractured pisiform bone in his right wrist. The Blue Jays expect him to miss "a couple weeks," and he has a follow-up appointment with a doctor on Friday. The 28-year-old backstop's history of hand issues continues. It's a tough blow for Toronto just before the start of the season for one of their most important hitters, but manager John Schneider is hoping Jansen will return quickly. Jansen was hit by a pitch in a Grapefruit League game on Wednesday and will now miss at least the next couple of weeks while he heals. He'll likely open the year on the injured list, but he could make his season debut at some point in April. With Jansen sidelined, Alejandro Kirk will be the team's primary catcher, with Brian Serven and Payton Henry battling for backup duties.
