Corey Seager 2023 Player Outlook: Ready for a Career Year
2 years agoIt was a great debut season in a Rangers' uniform for Seager, who slashed .245/.309/.455 with 33 homers, 91 runs, 84 RBI, and three steals. It was his third straight season with a barrel rate above 10% and a contact rate above 70%, not something many hitters have been able to accomplish. Seager is a great hitter who often gets overlooked in fantasy because of the lack of steals. The major thing working in Seager's favor for 2023 is the shift ban. No hitter hit more ground balls and line drives into the shift in 2022, so his BABIP should be on the upswing now that teams can't do that when he's in the box. Given his great power and strong contact ability, the ceiling is really high for Seager this year. He's a 30+ homer guy, and a .280 batting average is well within reach now as well. Add on to that that the Rangers have an above-average lineup and should be a competitive team this year, and we could be looking at a huge season for Seager. He's a spectacular shortstop pick after pick 60.
