Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard scored his first goal of the preseason while adding a pair of assists to help the Blackhawks knock off the visiting Detroit Red Wings by a 4-2 score on Tuesday. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick collected an assist on Connor Murphy's second-period tally before setting up Corey Perry's power play marker midway through the third period. He sealed the victory with his first preseason goal, an empty-netter with just over a minute remaining in the contest. The young phenom is up to five points (one goal, four assists) across three preseason games while predictably impressing with several highlight-reel plays in the early stages of what should be an illustrious NHL career.--Brenton Kemp
