The Washington Commanders are releasing starting slot cornerback/safety Bobby McCain on Monday, according to a source. With the Commanders having young talent in the secondary, McCain became the odd-man out. Washington will save $4.42 million against the 2023 salary cap by releasing McCain. The 29-year-old former fifth-round pick in 2015 by the Miami Dolphins had a career-high 76 tackles (54 solo), three tackles for loss, five passes defensed and one forced fumble in 17 games (16 starts) in his second year with the Commanders in 2022. The eight-year NFL veteran should draw plenty of interest on the open market this offseason, and he'll have a jump start on the market before the new league year begins on March 15.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
