Christian Vazquez's Homer Is His Only Hit
6 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez finished with one hit, his third home run of the season, in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees. The long ball ties his 2018 total in just 19 games this season, however, he is batting .200 with eight runs batted in. Since Blake Swihart was recently designated for assignment, Vazquez can expect to see the majority of the time behind the dish, with Sandy Leon spotting in on certain days. The 28-year-old Vazquez's current expected slugging percentage of .386 would be a career high at this pace. He'll get a tough matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays pitching staff this weekend, where he'll continue to bat at the bottom half of a Sox lineup that is struggling to score runs.
