Chris Shula to Interview for Steelers Head-Coaching Job
The Pittsburgh Steelers have requested to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula for their head-coaching job, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Steelers, who are looking to replace Mike Shula after he resigned on Tuesday, also want to interview up-and-coming Rams' passing-game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase for the head-coaching gig. Pittsburgh is just starting to assemble candidates to take over for Tomlin, but Shula is already considered a potential favorite for the job. Shula has been on Sean McVay's coaching staff since 2017, running the team's defense the last two seasons. He is the grandson of former NFL head coach Don Shula, and he'd have giant shoes to fill in the Steel City if he were to take over for Tomlin, who didn't have a losing season, miraculously, in his 19 years with the organization.
