Chargers Hesitant To Use Melvin Gordon
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn is hesitant to put too much on running back Melvin Gordon's shoulders in his first game of the season in Week 5 against the Broncos. "I don’t want to put him in there and play him too much, and I really don’t have to. I like what Austin Ekeler has been doing," Lynn said. Gordon will have a role this Sunday, but it's looking like he'll play second fiddle to Ekeler in this one. Eventually Gordon could overtake Ekeler in the backfield, but you have to remember this will be Gordon's season debut after a lengthy contract holdout. The Chargers could lean heavily on the run this weekend, but Gordon is shaping up to be more of an RB3/flex. Temper your expectations. Ekeler needs to remain in fantasy lineups.
