Casey Mize on Track to Return on Saturday
Casey Mize (hamstring) threw five innings in a simulated game at Comerica Park on Monday, according to The Detroit News' Chris McCosky. Mize is on track to come off the 15-day injured list and start against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. It's good news for the Tigers after they just placed right-hander Reese Olson (finger) on the IL on Monday. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a strained left hamstring. Mize will be worth a look as a fantasy streamer in his first game back against a Guardians team that is sporting a .686 OPS, which ranks only 22nd in baseball. Although Mize has a below-average 21% strikeout rate in 42 2/3 innings this year, it's the highest mark of his career and he has a nice 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB in his seven starts for Detroit.
