Carlos Rodon Exercises Opt-Out Clause
2 years agoAs expected, San Francisco Giants left-hander Carlos Rodon exercised his 2023 opt-out clause on Sunday and is now a free agent. Rodon will become a free agent after signing a two-year deal with the Giants before the 2022 season. The former Chicago White Sox's hurler was an All-Star for the second straight season, going 14-8 with a strong 2.88 ERA (league-low 2.25 FIP), a 1.03 WHIP, a career-high 237 strikeouts and 52 walks in 178 innings over 31 starts. The 29-year-old southpaw will be in high demand as one of the best available starting pitchers on the open market this winter, so he should cash in with a nice deal. Regardless of where Rodon lands, he'll be a highly coveted high-end fantasy starter heading into the 2023 season.
