Carlos Rodon Doesn't Receive Qualifying Offer
3 years agoChicago White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon did not receive a one-year, $18.4 million qualifying offer from the team on Sunday, making him a free agent. An All-Star in 2021, the 28-year-old southpaw went 13-5 last year with a 2.37 ERA to help the team win the American League Central division. There have been indications that the Pale Hose are unlikely to re-sign Rodon after they extended right-hander Lance Lynn at the All-Star break and with Michael Kopech destined to return to a rotation that already includes Lucas Giolito, Dylan Cease and Dallas Keuchel for 2022. Rodon dealt with second-half shoulder fatigue, so despite his excellent campaign, perhaps that played a part in the team not extending him the qualifying offer as well.
