Carlos Correa Officially Opts Out Monday
2 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa officially opted out of his $35.1 million player option for the 2023 season on Monday, according to the MLB Players Association. This was the expected move after the 28-year-old signed his one-year deal with the Twins in March. Correa played in 136 games in his lone season in Minnesota, slashing a strong .291/.366/.467 with an .834 OPS, 22 home runs, 64 RBI and 70 runs scored in 590 plate appearances. The 28-year-old two-time All-Star will have plenty of suitors on the open market as one of the best available shortstops in a loaded free-agent crop this offseason. If the Los Angeles Dodgers aren't able to re-sign Trea Turner at the 6, Correa could become an option for the Dodgers.
