4 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey was absent on Thursday for a second straight day and missed a practice for the third time since summer workouts started at Oracle Park. Manager Gabe Kapler said Posey is dealing with a personal matter away from the field and is still weighing the option of sitting out of the season amid concerns over the coronavirus. San Fran has five other catchers in camp, including Rob Brantly and Tyler Heineman, who are considered Posey's primary backups. Top prospect Joey Bart could also be next in line for playing time if Posey chooses to sit out. The 33-year-old Posey has seen his production decline for several seasons, and now there's the chance that he might not even play. Posey has become a low-end backstop in deep mixed leagues and a No. 2 catcher in two-catcher formats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
