Bucs Replace Gerald McCoy With Ndamukong Suh
6 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut defensive tackle Gerald McCoy this week and signed free-agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to replace him. McCoy was the third overall pick in 2010, while Suh was the second overall selection in the same draft. McCoy has six Pro Bowl selections to Suh's five and 54.5 sacks in 123 games compared to Suh's 56 sacks in 142 career games. Suh will immediately occupy McCoy's three-technique position and can still do damage at 32 years old. Suh will receive a one-year deal. He has played in 16 games in every year the past seven seasons but wasn't that productive with the Rams in 2018. The 31-year-old McCoy isn't the player he once was either (12 sacks in the last two seasons combined), but he'll surely be scooped up on the open market by a team in need of pass-rush help.
