Braves Not Interested In Kris Bryant
4 years agoThe Atlanta Braves have made it clear that they are not interested in trading for Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant. However, they did talk to the Colorado Rockies about third baseman Nolan Arenado before he was traded to the Cardinals this week. A significant hindrance to a potential Arenado deal was future payrolls. Bryant will make $19.5 million in the final year of his arbitration eligibility and hit just .206 with four home runs and 11 RBI while battling injuries through 34 games last season. But he was an All-Star in 2019 and won Rookie of the Year in 2015 and the MVP in 2016 with the Cubbies. Bryant is still on the right side of 30 and hit 31 home runs in his last full season with Chicago in 2019. He'll have more fantasy appeal if he's traded to a contending team this year, but Bryant could present a buying opportunity for fantasy managers at a current average draft position of 133.
