Brandon Woodruff Activated for Sunday Start
Brandon Woodruff (elbow) from the 60-day injured list. The team optioned righty Chad Patrick to Triple-A Nashville and transferred outfielder Garrett Mitchell (shoulder) to the 60-day IL in corresponding moves. Woodruff will make his long-awaited return Sunday in a start against the Miami Marlins. The 32-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since September 2023. He missed all of last season as a result of shoulder surgery and has dealt with ankle and elbow issues while working back to the bigs this year. Woodruff established himself in Milwaukee's rotation in 2019 and has put up front-line numbers when healthy enough to take the mound. He's the owner of a career 3.10 ERA and has averaged 10.42 strikeouts per nine innings, but it may be unrealistic to expect that type of production after almost two full years away.
