Brad Miller Agrees With Phillies
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million deal with free-agent infielder Brad Miller on Wednesday. The 31-year-old left-handed bat will bring versatility around the infield at second base, shortstop and first base. He spent the shortened 2020 season with the Cardinals and hit .232/.357/.451 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 142 at-bats over 48 games. Miller will join Scott Kingery in backing up at multiple positions in the infield in 2021 for Philadelphia while also being an option at the corner outfield spots. He's slashed .247/.329/.468 with 27 home runs, 27 doubles and four triples in the last three years but has also struck out 29.1 percent of the time. Miller spent most of his time in St. Louis as a designated hitter, but without the DH in the National League in 2021, he figures to see less playing time.
