Bobby Miller Signs Rookie Deal With Dodgers
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed Louisville right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller, their first-round pick at 29th overall, to a deal that included a $2.2 million signing bonus on Friday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. It's under the slot value of $2.424 million for the No. 29 pick, so the Dodgers save a little money to sign some of their other draft picks. Miller boosted his stock in Louisville's rotation this spring before the season was shut down, with his fastball sitting at 95-96 mph and reaching 97-99. His 6-foot-5 frame helps him maintain his stuff deep into outings, and he also includes a slider/cutter that can miss bats. As long as he throws strikes, the 21-year-old should remain a starter in the Dodgers system.
