Bills Pass Defense Solid, Suspect Against the Run
6 years agoThe Buffalo Bills defense played well for the most part against the Cleveland Browns in Friday's 19-17 win. The Browns went only 11 of 24 through the air for a measly 83 yards. The Bills ranked 20th against the pass in 2017 with 3,688 yards registered against them. They do, however, possess big play-making ability, as they ranked sixth in interceptions with 18. As for the run defense, they were gashed for 164 yards on 32 carries -- 63 of which came on the opening drive. Last season the Bills ranked near the bottom of rushing yards against, slotting in at 29th overall with 1,994 yards against.
The Bills defense could be a middle-of-the-pack unit in terms of ranking them at this point. The run defense may be slightly weak, and they are still trying to improve on establishing a pass rush. The one certainty seems to lie in the secondary. They should continue to provide lots of turnovers, as they are considered to be one of the most exciting defenses in the entire NFL.
