Bears Acquire Chase Claypool From The Steelers
2 years agoThe Chicago Bears acquired wide receiver Chase Claypool from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, according to a source. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers will receiver Chicago's original second-round pick in 2023. It's a hefty price to pay for Claypool, but the Bears were intent on giving developing second-year quarterback Justin Fields another weapon in the passing game. Claypool should immediately be a starter in Chicago alongside Darnell Mooney and Equanimeous St. Brown, and he'll be moving from the lowest-scoring offense in the league in Pittsburgh to a low-volume Bears passing attack that is averaging 19.4 points per game. In eight games with Pittsburgh this year, Claypool had 32 catches on 50 targets for 311 yards and a touchdown. His fantasy value shouldn't change all that much with the move, and it remains to be seen what kind of chemistry he'll have with Fields as he learns the offense.
