Antonio Gibson 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Faces Crowded Committee
2 years agoWashington Commanders running back Antonio Gibson is entering his fourth NFL season following a disappointing 2022 season in which he became the 1B option to rookie Brian Robinson Jr. in Washington's backfield. Despite falling off towards the end of last season, Gibson still showcases talent and explosiveness as a running back with the ability to catch passes and run between the tackles. J.D. McKissic is no longer with the team, leaving the passing down role wide open for Gibson to take. Rookie running back Chris Rodriguez figures to mix into the committee, but he should eat more into Robinson's workload than Gibson's. With first-year starter Sam Howell expected to be under center, this team could run more than expected, and the entire committee could see some fantasy value. New offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy reportedly likes Gibson and plans to utilize him more consistently this season. He is worth taking a chance on at his current cost as a third running back on your fantasy squads.
