Andrew Benintendi Resting On Monday
3 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. Benintendi returned from the injured list on Sunday and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in his first game back since June 13 due to a rib fracture. He'll get a day to rest before likely returning to the lineup on Tuesday. Hunter Dozier is in left field and hitting seventh, while Ryan O'Hearn is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup against Reds right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez. O'Hearn is hitting .300 (6-for-20) with a homer and two RBI in the last week, but he's also hitting .214 (3-for-14) with no homers against southpaws this year. Dozier is a desperation play for some pop (seven home runs), but he's hitting just .172/.240/.341 as a whole in 232 at-bats.
