Alex Kirilloff 2020 Outlook: Huge Ceiling for Average, Power
5 years agoWe were fully on the Alex Kirilloff bandwagon for 2019 and expected huge things after a 2018 season that saw him hit .348 with 20 homer and 44 doubles. And that was after sitting out all of 2017 with an injury. Unfortunately, injuries also dampened Kirilloff’s ’19 season and he ever looked fully healthy. So we’re jumping back on the bandwagon and expecting the outfielder to be motivated to make up for lost time. He’s an aggressive hitter who doesn’t walk a lot but he makes a lot of contact, uses the whole field and has shown the ability to hit for average. Toss in the power to slug more than 20 homers and you have an interesting prospect. Kirilloff looks like an average defender so he should be fine in a corner outfield slot or even at first base. Throw out his 2019 numbers. Instead, consider the 2018 results more indicative of his potential for the future. One warning for 2020. We also really like Brent Rooker and feel he might have a step on Kirilloff in terms of being MLB ready. Injuries also interrupted his 2019 season but he could have had a huge year if he had been healthy.
