49ers Offense Could Be More Aggressive
1 year agoThe San Francisco 49ers relied heavily on their defense in recent years, but this year could be the time that the offense takes a significant step forward to become the strength of the team. San Fran has versatile star running back Christian McCaffrey for a full year while teaming up with tight end George Kittle and receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. The Niners also have a ton of faith in quarterback Brock Purdy and believe he is the present and future of the club. And finally, they won't be able to rely on veteran kicker Robbie Gould anymore. Only three teams converted fewer fourth-down opportunities than the 49ers in 2022. Purdy's decision-making and accuracy are good fits for a team that might be more aggressive on fourth downs this year. The Niners averaged 33.5 points per game in the final six regular season games after Purdy took over in his rookie year.
