Matthew Stafford fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit Matthew Stafford in your fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit in 12-Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB2
ANALYSIS: Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is a good real-life quarterback, but that doesn't always translate to fantasy scoring. He's also 36 years old and not very mobile, which is a downside for fantasy.
Stafford isn't among the top-12 quarterbacks in fantasy in 2024. He's obviously a start in 2-QB leagues (including Superflex) but he's not worth starting in 1-QB leagues. There are plenty of better quarterbacks that belong in your starting lineup above Stafford.
However, for leagues where managers roster 2 QBs, he's worth having on the bench. He is still capable of making nice plays, and has head coach Sean McVay running the show and the offense. He'll also have two great receivers to throw it to once WR Puka Nacua returns from injury.

Stafford still has Cooper Kupp, and that's fantastic for his value, especially in six-point passing touchdown leagues. In leagues with standard scoring though, where passing touchdowns are good for four points, Stafford is best left on your fantasy bench unless your usual starter is injured. He's a fine replacement in that case.
