BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 22% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: You can't name 12 quarterbacks better than Marcus Mariota. Well, maybe you can – in fact, Mariota is sitting right in the 13th position of the fantasy-point leaderboard through Week 3 – but I would still argue against your picks because not only is Mariota playing to QB1 levels, but he's also keeping his production as steady as it can be with tiny volatility from one week to the next one.
Just this past Sunday, facing Seattle, Mariota finished the day with 15.6 FP. He scored 15.4 in Week 2, and a slightly higher 18.8 in Week 1. That's Mariota for you: a steady scorer with a high floor and a not-so-high ceiling. Not that he can do much more than he's doing with the receiving corps Atlanta has on offer.
Good for Mariota, this past weekend we finally got to watch Kyle Pitts doing something relatively good on a football field. Mariota himself put up a 13-of-20 passing outing that was not really incredible. It was rather efficient, though, as Mariota's 13 completions turned into 229 yards and one touchdown (against one interception). Mariota also rushed for another score (he also did in W1, which is great) but fumbled the rock twice.
Mariota has yet to complete more than 20 passes in a single game this season, and he's attempted more than 26 passes just once (33 in W1). That said, he's kept up his completion percentages in the 60-to-65 percent while tossing the same amount of touchdowns as he has interceptions (three of each variety).
When all is said and done, and assuming Mariota can keep his current production up, it'd make sense for him to break into the top-12 quarterbacks of the fantasy season given his hyper-low weekly volatility of just 1.2 FP.
If you're quarterback-needy after three weeks of letdown-games by whoever you drafted at the position, Mariota should be a nice grab from the WW to start ROS in most leagues.
