Keenan Allen fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit Keenan Allen in your fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen got off to a rough start in his first game of 2024, but he's still an elite route runner and was playing through a heel injury. Despite this, he was a few miscues away from a great performance, and rookie QB Caleb Williams should be able to improve his game.
Keenan Allen in Week 1:
1. Chunk gain that potentially coulda been six points overthrown
2. Dropped a short TD pic.twitter.com/tisq5abAeQ— Ian Hartitz (@Ihartitz) September 9, 2024
These miscues aren't the toughest things to fix. Williams was an elite college QB and he should be able to work off the jitters in the upcoming weeks. It's certainly unreasonable to expect Williams will overthrow Allen like that all season. The drop can also be cleaned up.
Allen has averaged over 30 catches for every drop over the past two seasons, and Williams was playing in his first game. Allen is someone you should target if people are selling in redraft leagues. He had elite usage and his route-running abilities make him the ideal safety blanket for Williams, which is dynamite for PPR formats.
Bears Week 1 WR utilization prior to Keenan Allen injury on 7th drive (early data):
Keenan Allen: 81% routes, 44% targets 👀👀👀
D.J. Moore: 88%, 28%
Rome Odunze: 83%, 13%Allen: WOW.
Trailing script might have inflated things, but encouraging playing time for Odunze.

Always start Keenan Allen in PPR formats if he plays.
