Joshua Palmer fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit Joshua Palmer in your fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Sit
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4+
ANALYSIS: After significant buzz that Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer could be QB Justin Herbert's primary target in 2024, Palmer disappointed massively in Week 1, recording just two catches on four targets for 15 yards and no touchdowns.
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh showed his penchant for run-heavy offenses and Herbert completed just 17 passes against the Raiders. Palmer accounted for a tiny percentage of those, though no Chargers receiver caught more than five passes.
It was rookie WR Ladd McConkey who had the best day for the Chargers, catching five passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. Not stellar numbers by any means.

McConkey was drafted with the 34th overall pick by the Chargers while Palmer was selected with the 77th in his draft. Teams tend to show what they think of players' abilities with the draft selection they use, and McConkey was much more highly regarded by teams coming out of college.
Despite this, even McConkey may not see consistent high target volume worthy of weekly starts. In close games or games where the Chargers lead, it's clear they'll continue to deploy an extremely run-heavy approach and aren't afraid to have minimal passing volume.
Palmer is little more than a bench stash for now and worth dropping outside of deeper leagues.
