Jonathan Villar (SS/3B, MIL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Despite an unimpressive slash of .236/.300/.353 for Jonathan Villar in Houston, the shortstop still was able to hit ten HR and steal 42 bases in just 589 AB in three seasons. In 2013 Villar was able to steal 18 bases in just 210 AB, and in 2014 he swiped 17 bases in just 263 AB despite a horrendous OBP of .267. Villar has the ability to produce big time in the SB category even when he isn't reaching base often. Secondly, last year in 2015, Villar saw a vast offensive improvement by putting up by far the best slash of his career of .284/.339/.414 and hit two HR and stole seven bases in just 116 AB before his season was cut short by injury. So far this season Villar has been getting the start in the Milwaukee infield (he is eligible at SS and 3B) and has been red hot to start the year with a slash of .385/.556/.692 and has hit a HR in just 13 AB and 18 PA. Miller Park will allow Villar to explore his sneaky potential to jack ten homers this season, and if Villar's OBP continues to be scorching (maybe not .556 for the rest of the year, but as we've discussed, he stole 17 bases in 263 AB with less than half of his 2016 OBP) then he could be one of the biggest steals of the season (pun intended) for the 97% of Fantasy Baseball Managers to whom he is available.
