Joe Mixon fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2024). Should you start or sit Joe Mixon for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in All Formats
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon will make his team debut in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts after the Cincinnati Bengals traded him away this offseason. While Mixon will be playing for a new team in 2024, his workload isn't expected to change significantly.
Mixon has seen at least 270 touches in three straight seasons while finishing as a top-10 fantasy running back in PPR formats in those three years. With Cam Akers and Dameon Pierce as the only other two options behind him in the backfield, expect the 28-year-old veteran to be utilized heavily in both the running and passing game.
Joe Mixon is my top RB2 target and I'm taking him over big names like James Cook, Rachaad White, Josh Jacobs without hesitation. He's about to be an absolute workhorse this year and put on a show

With a divisional showdown on tap for Week 1, Mixon should see most of the running back touches in this game. That makes him a must-start in all formats to start the season. The Colts also struggled to contain the run last year, giving up the ninth most rush yards per game (123.8).
Given that most of Indianapolis' defense is returning from a season ago, the new Texans running back should be in store for a solid fantasy day.
