James Conner fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit James Conner for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Low-end RB1
ANALYSIS: James Conner should be a must-start in all fantasy football leagues this week and be viewed as a low-end RB1 as the Cardinals host the Rams.
James Conner’s value in fantasy football has always been about volume, and despite concerns after the Cardinals drafted Trey Benson, Week 1 put those fears to rest. Conner handled 19 total touches for 83 yards, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

He also handled 100% of the team’s carries inside the 10-yard line and was active in the passing game, catching all three of his targets for 33 yards. While his efficiency was slightly below expectations, Conner still managed some big plays, and the inefficiency can likely be attributed to Week 1 rust.
Looking ahead to Week 2, Conner faces a favorable matchup against the Rams in an NFC West showdown. The Rams defense allowed Lions running back David Montgomery—who has a similar running style to Conner—to rack up 16.2 fantasy points in Week 1.
The Lions totaled 163 rushing yards against the Rams, recording the third-most yards before contact in the league. Although the Cardinals line struggled in pass protection, they were able to create running lanes for their backs and should be able to do the same against the Rams front.
With Conner’s high volume and favorable matchup, he should be considered a low-end RB1 in all formats for Week 2.
