Is Xavier Worthy out for the season? When is Xavier Worthy coming back? The latest Xavier Worthy injury update and fantasy football outlook heading into Week 3 of 2025.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy (shoulder) unfortunately has yet to log a reception this season. He was targeted just one time in his Week 1 game before he suffered an injury.
His teammate, tight end Travis Kelce, collided with the second-year pro in an unfortunate mishap that left him with a significant shoulder injury.
Worthy's second season is off to a rocky start, and it's not known how it will affect him throughout the season. But will he be able to play in Week 3, and what's his fantasy football outlook?

Is Xavier Worthy Playing in Week 3?
On Saturday Xavier Worthy was officially ruled out, and will not play in Week 3, despite previous reports that he was trending toward playing.
The #Chiefs have ruled out WR Xavier Worthy, who won’t travel with the team. He did not get to full practice participation, a sign he’s not ready to return from a torn labrum.

He has been practicing with the team again for some time now and hasn't been wearing a brace or any protection for his shoulder, so he may be back soon.

Is Xavier Worthy Out for the 2025 Season?
Sadly, the ailment Worthy is suffering from is significant. The hit he took looked pretty nasty, and it's not yet known when he'll be back and if he'll be limited by the ailment upon returning.
It appears as if he'll play through the injury for now, though, opting not to have surgery on the affected area. This, of course, means he won't miss the entire season, but it doesn't mean everything is sunshine and roses.

It's possible to play through fully torn labrums, though. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (hamstring) has reportedly played through a torn labrum in one of his shoulders for his entire career. It's unclear exactly why he doesn't opt to get surgery on it.
Kittle claimed that the shoulder has bothered him since high school, and that he's been playing through it ever since. Of course, every injury is different, and every player's body is different, but there's at least precedent for players playing through this type of injury.
Xavier Worthy Fantasy Football Outlook
Worthy was the Chiefs' WR1, due to the absence of WR Rashee Rice, who is serving his six-game suspension for the car accident he caused over a year ago. And now Worthy will be out for Week 3. Kansas City struggled massively in Worthy's absence in Week 1 and Week 2, dropping both games to their opponents.
In Worthy's absence, Hollywood Brown served as the team's top receiver, and though he caught 10 passes for 99 yards in Week 1, he managed just five catches for 30 yards the next week. The Chiefs' offensive performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in that second contest wasn't special.
