Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taylor had an outstanding college career, totaling 926 rushing attempts for 6,174 yards and 50 touchdowns in three years at Wisconsin. He also had 42 receptions for 407 receiving yards and five touchdowns in college.
More importantly, the former Badgers star has been a fantasy superstar since joining the NFL. The talented running back had 232 rushing attempts for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie year. Yet, Taylor was unstoppable in 2021, leading the NFL in rushing attempts (332), yards (1,811), and touchdowns (18).
Unfortunately, the superstar running back has struggled with injuries since his breakout sophomore season. He missed six games last year because of ankle injuries. Meanwhile, Taylor missed the first four games in 2023 because of offseason ankle surgery.

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update For Fantasy Football
The former Wisconsin star has been productive since making his season debut in Week 5. The superstar had an impressive fantasy performance on Sunday against a talented Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, totaling 15 rushing attempts for 91 yards, two touchdowns, and 21.1 half-point PPR fantasy points, a season-high.
However, Taylor reportedly suffered a thumb injury in the win over the Buccaneers. Despite not showing any indication he was hurt after the game, the superstar running back has a thumb injury. The Colts are gathering more information, but reportedly placing the talented running back on injured reserve is on the table.
Jonathan Taylor Fantasy Football Outlook
Since making his season debut in Week 5, Taylor has been the RB12, averaging 13.3 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has scored at least 10.2 fantasy points in five straight contests, including 14 or more in all but one.
If Taylor ends up on injured reserve, Indianapolis will turn to Zack Moss. The veteran running back has seen his role diminish lately. Yet, he still ranks top-10 in rushing yards for the year despite his limited role.
Moss didn’t play in Week 1 because of a training camp injury. However, he was outstanding afterward until Taylor returned. The veteran was the RB7 from Week 2 through Week 4, averaging 16.4 fantasy points per game, scoring 18.7 or more twice.
Hopefully, Taylor can play through the thumb injury. Yet, fantasy players should make sure Moss isn’t available on their waiver wire. He has top-10 upside if the superstar misses significant time.
