Week 13 FLEX Rankings Outlooks
Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce put up a dud in his team's Week 12 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, recording just one catch for 26 yards on two targets. It was a disappointing result for the 25-year-old, as he had been showing signs of a breakout before the team's Week 11 bye. Across nine games this season, Pierce leads the NFL in yards per reception (21.1).
At the same time, he's averaging a career-best six targets per game. Across four games before Indianapolis' Week 11 bye, Pierce's target rate had spiked even higher to 8.8 per contest. While Week 12 showcases that Pierce can still have bust weeks, he also holds explosive upside. Pierce should remain a waiver-wire priority in fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams heading into his Week 13 matchup against the Houston Texans.
Greg Dortch, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch is coming off back-to-back touchdown performances heading into Week 13. Dortch and the Cardinals' passing attack have been firing on all cylinders right before the fantasy playoffs. Entering Week 13, Dortch will have a favorable matchup against a struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass defense.
The Buccaneers' defense has allowed opposing offenses to gain over 270 yards through the air and three passing touchdowns in their last two games. Dortch could see more target competition if teammate Marvin Harrison Jr. (appendix) can play on Sunday. Harrison has officially been listed as questionable for Week 13 after missing the previous two games, following appendectomy surgery a few weeks ago.
If Harrison returns, Dortch can potentially be fantasy viable in deep leagues if the Cardinals' offense continues to be pass-heavy. Dortch will be a risky flex option in deeper leagues in Week 13, due to a potential crowded pass-catching room brewing in Arizona.
Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco 49ers
Since returning from the knee injury that caused him to miss six games, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has caught three passes in his last two outings for only six yards. In leagues without an IR spot, Pearsall was a frustrating hold on the hopes that he would reignite his early-season success immediately upon return.
His 281 receiving yards through the first three weeks of the season trailed only OPOY candidate Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but as he eases his way closer to a full workload, his involvement over the past two games has made him unplayable. It should be noted that George Kittle left early in the season opener with a hamstring injury, clearing a path to the promising WR1 workload for Pearsall.
However, with a healthy Kittle playing in both games since his return, Pearsall has been out-targeted by the All-Pro tight end 15-to-6. The 49ers face a stingy Cleveland defense in Week 13 before a Week 14 bye, making Pearsall one of the league's bigger question marks heading into the fantasy playoffs.
