Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase is a fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup and add heading into Week 9 of the MLB season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in Two-Catcher Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 4% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Eric Haase has a bad rap after three limited MLB stints that ended in disaster, but it looks like he's the kind of player that needs to warm up. Through 36 AB this season (already his longest major league stint), Haase has hit for four XBH (two doubles, two HR) while slashing .278/.297/.500. He's created hard contact on a stout 52% clip with a 92.9 MPH average exit velocity for a .222 ISO, though he is striking out at a 29.7% rate with zero walks.

In a 17-AB 2021 Triple-A stint, Haase slashed .353/.450/.471 with a stolen base, and the last time he played a full minor league season back in 2019, he finished with 28 homers and an .832 OPS. With Wilson Ramos currently sidelined on the 10-day IL, the window is open for Eric Haase to make a lasting impact, and in two-catcher leagues, that's a chance worth taking.
