DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice - NBA DFS Lineup Picks for 1/3/16

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Demetri highlights the top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for 1/3/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings NBA DFS lineups.

Sunday's slate consists of five games, all of which should be competitive. Teams face off against each other that play with similar styles or that both give up a ton of points a night, resulting in, hopefully, big fantasy nights for multiple players.

This lineup is very matchup-driven, but not necessarily focusing around players that can exploit weaknesses, so much so as those that will be challenged by equal, if not better competition.

Check out my Daily NBA Picks for DraftKings, 1/3/16.

DraftKings DFS Point Guards

Goran Dragic (at WAS, $5,800)

Dragic draws John Wall on Sunday, who has posted eight straight double-doubles. Wall should be the obvious choice here but Dragic plays for a good Heat team, now up for the challenge against one of the league's best point guards, and is about $4,000 cheaper. Dragic won't put up the same type of production but has dropped over 20 fantasy points in four straight, including two of over 35. Last time the Heat faced off against the Wizards in early December, Dragic scored 20 points and dished out nine assists.

Kyle Lowry (vs CHI, $8,100)

In a loss to the Bulls Friday night, Lowry posted an impressive line in 40 minutes of court time; 28 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and three steals, equating to 55 fantasy points. The Raptors square off against Chicago again on Sunday in what should be another competitive contest. Lowry is always a threat from behind the arc, as well as a threat to pick up a heavy amount of assists, and to sprinkle stats in the rebound and steal category.

DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards

Lou Williams (vs PHO, $5,400 )

Williams has seen the floor more than any other Laker in four straight games, averaging well over 3o minutes played in that span. He'll also likely be assigned the responsibility of guarding Brandon Knight, who has seemed to have lost his way a bit since the injury to Eric Bledsoe. I'm also intrigued by this matchup of two teams that both give up a lot of points. Williams has scored in double digits in his last three, including a 24 point performance against the 76ers Friday night, along with three straight games of four rebounds. It appears that the Lakers will continue to rely heavily on Williams for minutes and production, as they're coming off back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Allen Crabbe (at DEN, $4,800)

Crabbe has filled in nicely for the injured Damian Lillard. In all six games starting for Lillard, Crabbe has played over 30 minutes and has scored in double digits. He is another cheap option, facing a Nuggets team that allow the eighth most points a night in the NBA. Crabbe is handcuffed to Lillard, so keep an eye on his status, which has yet to be updated. Crabbe has shot over 50% from downtown in three of his last four, draining 13 total. The Nuggets also give up the seventh most threes, with 9.2 a night.

DraftKings DFS Small Forwards

T.J. Warren (at LAL, $5,100)

The Suns have lost seventh straight, and are really beginning to feel the weight of Bledsoe's injury, inviting others to step up, or attempt to, in their star's absence. Warren is the most recent to do so, dropping 29 points, grabbing nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals in 41 minutes Thursday night against the Thunder. Only time will tell if this was a one-hit-wonder performance, but if Warren can consistently produce anywhere close to the way he did against Oklahoma City, he will be valuable for his affordable price.

Carmelo Anthony (vs ATL, $8,300)

The Knicks face Atlanta for a second time in a week, and will likely be in another catchup game against the first place Hawks. When the two last played, Melo scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, good for 40.5 fantasy points. With the exception of Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks do not have much firepower, and will constantly rely on Anthony. Melo's fantasy production has been sporadic over his past ten games, but has boosted lineups at the same time. In that span, he has posted 50+ fantasy points three times, 40+ four times, and 30+ two times. Melo's season has been very similar to New York's, but he should be the team's bright spot each night, win or lose.

DraftKings DFS Power Forwards

Nikola Mirotic (at TOR, $5,000)

In Mirotic's last four games, the power forward has tallied over 40 fantasy points twice, but also posted an embarrassing 8.0 and 12.25 in the other two. This is an intriguing matchup including two teams separated by half a game in the standings, surely to highlight Sunday's card with its competitiveness. It's been a rough plummet for Mirotic since the beginning of the season, but now with these sudden flashes of brilliance, he is definitely worth a look. Mirotic is most effective when he pulls the trigger from long range, sinking eight of 13 combined in his 40+ point performances. The Raptors allow 24.2 three point attempts a night.

Larry Nance Jr. (vs PHO, $4,100)

Nance Jr. is the kind of guy that'll do just enough, in his average of 20.8 minutes a night, to positively shake a lineup for his low price. He's coming off a season high 14 rebounds, and has posted 20+ fantasy points in three of his last four, including a performance of 37.25. We already know the Suns are depleted, facing one of the four teams that give up more points than they do. Expect a high scoring contest with a lot of bloated stat lines for several different players. Nance doesn't shoot often, but makes it count when he does. He is shooting .689 from the field on 35 attempts over a five game span.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Al Horford (at NYK, $6,600)

The Knicks have dropped five of their last six games, including one to the Hawks where Horford posted 19 points, seven assists, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. The center is coming off a season high 30 points Tuesday night, and a 58.5 fantasy point performance. New York has been exceptionally vulnerable of late, where Horford can take advantage and post his third straight double-double.
