David Montgomery fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 2 (2024). Should you start or sit David Montgomery for fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: David Montgomery is set to reprise his role as the battering ram that the Lions use between the tackles and at the goal line in Week Two as Detroit takes on Tampa Bay.
Last week, Monty averaged 5.4 yards per carry on his way to 91 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime. He out-touched Jahmyr Gibbs once again 20-15, though Gibbs also scored earlier in the game on a rare goal-line carry.

The Lions have emerged as one of the premiere running games in the NFL and there should be enough touches to go around for both backs all season.
While a backfield split is never ideal in fantasy, both of these backs are flourishing and Detroit finds themselves in another high-total game this week against the Bucs (51-point total) where we should see plenty of offense.
Monty's early-down and short-yardage role makes him a solid RB2 choice this week once again. Don't be surprised when he's able to find paydirt once again. Start him with confidence in all formats.
