Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (8/20) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Wednesday, August 21st edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 21st. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Bo Bichette is everything I wanted in my $235 Brendan Rodgers bid.
  • Nick at night! Nick Castellanos goes it alone.
  • Such defiance. You want SB, Jon Berti gives you another HR. How rude.
  • How do you get nutmeg’d in baseball? Ask Max Kepler and his squirrelly friend. 34HR
  • Andrew Heaney brought his money-maker. 14K.
  • Mike Trout joins Cody Bellinger to share the special moment that is #42.
  • Delino DeShields. Free SB. How bad do you need them?
  • Chris Archer w/shoulder issues. But the Pirates won.
  • Very sweet of you to add a SB for us, Mr. Anthony Rendon(three).
  • Camden crusader du jour: Hanser Alberto. 8th HR. .318AVG
  • LSU Pride! Aaron Nola joins 12-Win Club.
  • Mystery solved: Jean Segura steals decline due to too many combo meals in the past.
  • Cal Quantrill will have spot in 2020 rotation, real & in mine.
  • Freddy Galvis having a career year w/21HR. Even better w/regular playing time?
  • Nick Senzel jumps on his carriage; gets two SB.
  • Sonny Gray isn’t a K-pitcher? 29%K rate. I like.
  • Tom Murphy & Kyle Seager are new bash brothers. 15HR, 32RBI combined last 15 days.
  • Sneaky Tim Lopes.
  • The Metropolitans denied Shane Bieber his 13th stamp.
  • Maybe Michael Conforto will follow the “hit stride at 27 years old” timeline. 2019 is career year though.
  • Freddie Freeman will not go “cheap” in 2020. 33 taters. 102RBI(leads MLB).
  • Dallas Keuchel throws you a bone. Was it worth it? Valuable lessons.
  • Michael Wacha & his 9%ers are pleased with four scoreless.
  • Harrison Bader is back. I’ll watch from the outside for now.
  • So this is how Anthony Rizzo makes up the numbers. Lump sums (25HR).
  • How do I explain Kevin Pillar’s 18HR? Can you explain Stonehenge?
  • Injury has slowed momentum but George Springer is still amazing value.
  • Jack Mayfield playing SS?! And you can’t arrange players to bring Kyle Tucker up?!
  • THUN-DAH! Nelson Cruz doesn’t stop on red. He charges ahead. 33HR.
  • “Start Strong, Finish Strong!” I like that mantra for you Jorge Polanco. 81R, 19HR, .296AVG.
  • Jose Abreu soars despite lack of respect. 28 long balls.
  • Do I need to yell for you to hear the Nick Ahmed message? A month of whispering is doing no good.
  • Is it possible Nolan Arenado is a second-rounder? Power(31)/AVG but nothing else?
  • You see, Domingo German. It’s not all Big Hats & Mint Juleps.
  • Gary Sanchez plays & recovers. Plays & recovers. 28HR could be more.
  • 13? Does that give me a discount on Aaron Judge shares in 2020. Around pick 28 please.
  • Matt Olson catching up to the crowd in power(26), but that .265AVG. I shouldn’t be greedy.
  • Homer Bailey w/11W. You’ve got to be kidding me.
  • People will want Will Smith to be the Danny Jansen in 2020 drafts. He’s better.
  • Dodgers lineup is officially crowded.
  • Max Muncy under the radar w/32 torpedoes.
  • Clayton Kershaw is.
  • Have a great Wednesday. There are some early games today if you can sneak them in. Be the Kershaw of your day.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
