Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (8/19) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Tuesday, August 20th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 20th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Carlos Carrasco had a great rehab outing. I don’t care who you are, stand up and cheer. “F- you, cancer & the leukemic horse you rode in on.”
  • Chris Sale owners must jump into the mudpie of SP in free agency.
  • Nicky Lopez swats 2nd HR. Does that & one SB provide a return on investment?
  • Bad teams can still have nice things. (Jonathan Villar).
  • Trevor Bauer providing mixed emotions. Where does he go in 2020 drafts?
  • Francisco Mejia heating up. Another catcher option for you. Don’t draft one before 10th round in 2020.
  • Freddy Galvis moved his career-high HR studies to Cinci.
  • A streak of three SB didn't do anything, but four HR in five games moves the needle on Adam Eaton.
  • Asdrubal Cabrera loves the Nats. One tater, 10RBI, .417AVG last week. Drawing interest.
  • Trea Turner, I believe you’d be stealing 40 bases in a full season. Steal at end of the first round in 2020. Dad pun of the day. Check.
  • Random steals. Tim Lopes(two) at top of the order.
  • We waited on Tom Murphy forever (Rockies Shenanigans). Here he is in Seattle. 6HR, 13RBI, .364AVG last 15 days is good.
  • Austin Nola giving you more of that free catcher money.
  • Marco Gonzales leaves Clayton Kershaw, German Marquez, and Hyun-Jin Ryu back in the 12-Win club.
  • Tommy Trolley is moving now. Up to HR car up to 18…waiting on SB(13) to get unstuck for Tommy Pham.
  • Austin Meadows needs to fade to black. Make 2020 your supernova season. Save yourself and my wallet.
  • Ji-Man Choi, I see you. At what point do you agree that Nate Lowe is better than you and step down.
  • Brendan McKay with rough go of it this go ‘round. Good. I love a good discount.
  • Dakota Hudson can control the Brewers, he can dominate anyone. Baseball doesn’t like anything out of balance. Beware the Rockies.
  • Paul DeJong, if you’re gonna do something, do it all the way. 4HR, .196AVG is odd.
  • In today’s episode of Big Kids Love Toys, Albert Pujols w/combo meal to get the King tattoo. Sorry, Albert, those are in Cracker Jacks.
  • Shohei Ohtani having a “take-it-easy” season w/16HR, 11SB, .302AVG. Giddy over the future.
  • Travis Demeritte moves to the second spot in the lineup. 3-for-5, 2nd HR. No more moves!
  • People don’t like Jose Abreu. 27HR, 92RBI, .273AVG. What’s not to like. Oh, you’d rather have Anthony Rizzo.
  • Nelson Cruz is back, but it was Jorge Polanco-day, again.
  • Zac Gallen pimping out first base, just giving it to six guys.
  • Ketel Marte has been impressive. Too rich for my blood in 2020. I’ll hang back for the Polanco.
  • Have a great Tuesday. Full slate of baseball. Have a full slate of daily adventure as well.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
