BALLER MOVE: Start In 10-Team Formats
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR2
ANALYSIS: The Jacksonville Jaguars have been without wide receiver Christian Kirk over the past two weeks, which has led to a major increase in volume for wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
The former Atlanta Falcon has been targeted 25 times over this two-game span, something that's likely to continue against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. However, Ridley's actual production has been lacking. Against Cleveland, he turned his 13 targets into four catches for 53 yards. One week later against the Ravens, he caught five of his 12 targets for 39 yards.
Those games were against two of the NFL's best pass defenses. This week's game is against one of the worst, as the Buccaneers allow 263.9 passing yards per game, the second-most in the league.
There was one worrying thing leading up to this game that could have capped Ridley's upside, as quarterback Trevor Lawrence was in concussion protocol. He's cleared that though and is expected to start in Week 16.
Ridley's expected role plus the struggles of the defense he's facing makes him a solid WR2 play with upside. The only concern here is that Ridley's had a few bad games this year even when the matchup was good, so he's not a sure thing to excel against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
