ANALYSIS: The San Francisco 49ers acquired former Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. earlier in August, and he could be poised to take on a heavy workload in his team debut.
On Thursday, star running back Christian McCaffrey was listed as a limited participant during Thursday's practice session due to a calf injury. However, on Friday, McCaffrey took a step back as he was listed as a non-participant and officially carries a questionable tag into the weekend.
While McCaffrey told reporters that he "feels great," the team may opt to lean on the side of caution, given that he appeared in only four games in 2024, due to Achilles tendinitis in both legs.
Last season, Robinson operated as the primary lead back in Washington and tallied over 700+ rushing yards for the third consecutive season. He also punched in a career-best eight touchdowns, playing in a high-potent offense.
If McCaffrey were to be downgraded before Sunday's game, fantasy managers should expect Robinson to take on the bulk of the tries and hold a high-end RB2 value facing the Seahawks. However, if McCaffrey were to suit up, managers should expect him to receive the bulk of the work, which would make Robinson a low-end touchdown-dependent RB3.
