Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Alex Colome Blows First Save

Chicago White Sox closer Alex Colome gave up a walk and a walk-off home run in Wednesday’s outing versus the Nationals. Colome has pitched well all season, but didn’t have everything together Wednesday. It was Colome’s first blown save of the season and owners shouldn’t let one bad outing doubt him. He remains a good […]

Yoan Moncada Goes Yard In Consecutive Games

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada hit a home run for the second consecutive game on Wednesday versus the Nationals. It was Moncada’s only hit in five at-bats and he was robbed of a second home run in the game as well. Moncada is now hitting .282 with 12 home runs, 37 RBI and […]

Dylan Covey Allows Seven Hits

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Covey allowed seven hits, two runs, one walk and struck out four over five innings on Wednesday versus the Nationals. Covey has mostly struggled this season, but has had back-to-back solid outings. Even so, Covey and his 4.58 ERA can be left on waivers. Covey will face the Nationals […]

Reynaldo Lopez Continues To Get Crushed

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez continues to get lit up on the mound. Over four innings, Lopez allowed five hits, six runs, four walks and struck out four versus the Nationals. Lopez was handed a 4-0 lead entering the bottom of the first inning, but couldn’t take advantage. The righty has struggled big […]

Pedro Strops Picks Up The Save In His Return

Chicago Cubs closer Pedro Strop picked up his fifth save on the season on Tuesday versus the Rockies. It was Strop’s first outing since being activated earlier in the day from the injured list with a hamstring injury. Strop was thrown right back into the fire and it’s safe to say that Strop is the […]

Javier Baez Goes Deep For A Second Straight Day

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored. Baez has now homered in back-to-back games has 15 home runs to go along with 39 RBI and a .309 batting average. He remains one of the best fantasy bats in all formats.

Kyle Hendricks Continues To Pitch Well

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks picked up another quality start on Tuesday versus the Colorado Rockies. The right-hander went seven innings and allowed six hits, three runs, one walk and struck out ten. Hendricks threw a season high 111 pitches and now owns a cool 3.16 ERA. Hendricks remains a consistent pitcher every time […]

Willson Contreras Will Be On The Bench Tuesday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will get Tuesday evening off versus the Rockies. Contreras had only been sitting when Yu Darvish starts until last week when Joe Maddon sat him in two straight games. Darvish is on the bump tomorrow and it will be interesting to see if Joe Maddon sits Contreras once again. Victor […]

Jon Lester Gets Back On Track

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester turned in a quality start on Monday versus the Los Angeles Angels. Lester went seven innings and allowed four hits, one run, one walk and struck out six on the afternoon. Lester had struggled mightily over his last three starts and his strong effort on Monday lowers his ERA […]

Willson Contreras Hits Home Run Number 13

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Monday versus the Angels. Contreras has been in a bit of a funk lately and was six for his last 37 entering Monday’s contest. Despite his slump, Contreras remains one of the better options at catcher and is hitting .291 with 13 […]

Javier Baez Knocks In Three Runs

Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI on Monday versus the Angels. Baez has been playing through a heel injury and was struggling with three hits over his last 23 at-bats entering Monday. Even with that bump in the road, Baez is hitting .301 with […]

Carlos Gonzalez Picks Up A Hit In Cubs Debut

Chicago Cubs outfielder Carlos Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a walk in his first game with his new squad. Gonzalez also made a highlight reel catch in the top of the seventh inning to help protect a Cubs lead. The Cubs are looking to catch lightning in a bottle with the veteran outfielder, but fantasy owners […]

Carlos Gonzalez Promoted And Starting On Monday

The Chicago Cubs have promoted outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to the big league roster. Gonzalez signed with the Cubs this past week and got some at-bats for Triple-A Iowa. Gonzalez will start on Monday in right field and bat fifth. The former All-Star was only hitting .210 with a pair of home runs in 117 at-bats […]

Jon Jay To Begin Rehab Assignment

Chicago White Sox outfielder Jon Jay (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham on Monday. Jay has missed the entire 2019 campaign with a groin injury. Ryan Mountcastle Hits Three Home Runs

Baltimore Orioles infield prospect Ryan Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with three home runs and five RBI on Sunday for Triple-A Norfolk. With the strong performance, Mountcastle is now hitting .328 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. Mountcastle recently missed a few games with a wrist injury, but that didn’t appear to bother him Sunday. The […]

Welington Castillo Activated From Injured List

Chicago White Sox catcher Welington Castillo (concussion) has been activated from the 7-day injured list. Castillo missed eight games with a concussion, but is ready to rock and roll on Saturday. The catcher is hitting a poor .176 with three home runs and ten RBI for the season. Castillo is being outplayed by James McCann […]

Willson Contreras On The Bench Friday

Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras will sit on Friday versus the Cardinals. Yu Darvish will be on the hill for the Cubs and manager Joe Maddon has chosen to assign Victor Caratini as his personal catcher. This has been the routine all season and Contreras is expected to have his rest whenever Darvish pitches. Victor […]

Zac Gallen Picks Up Seventh Win

Miami Marlins pitching prospect Zac Gallen continues to impress for Triple-A New Orleans. Gallen allowed four hits, one run, two walks and struck out eight batters over 6 2/3 to pick up his seventh win on Wednesday. Gallen who came over as part of the Marcell Ozuna deal prior to 2018 has impressed and now […]

Luis Robert Continues To Impress

Chicago White Sox outfield prospect Luis Robert went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI on Wednesday for Double-A Birmingham. Bobby Bradley Doing Well In Triple-A

Cleveland Indians first base prospect Bobby Bradley is a name for fantasy owners to keep an eye on. Bradley currently is hitting .282 with a .954 OPS for Triple-A Columbus. Bradley also has shown some power with 14 home runs. With the Indians struggling at offense all year, it would make sense for them to […]

Willi Castro Raises Average To .351

Detroit Tigers shortstop prospect Willi Castro picked up a pair of hits in five at-bats on Wednesday for Triple-A Toledo. Castro, 22, has been tearing the cover off the ball with a .351 batting average. Castro is more of a contact hitter than power hitter as he only has three home runs and 22 RBI, […]

Yordan Alvarez Picks Up Three More Hits

Houston Astros outfield prospect Yordan Alvarez continues to impress and finished with three hits in six at-bats for Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. Alvarez also picked up a steal and a walk in the matchup. Alvarez has been in a bit of a funk lately, but is still hitting a ridiculous .367 with 20 home […]

Kris Bryant Returns On Wednesday

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (neck, head) will return to the lineup on Wednesday versus the Astros. Bryant missed the last two games after a collision with teammate Jason Heyward on Sunday. Bryant will be the designated hitter on Wednesday and bat second. The former MVP should be plugged back into lineups.

Jason Heyward Goes Deep In His Return

Chicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward hit a home run in his return to the lineup on Tuesday. Heyward sat out Monday after he collided with teammate Kris Bryant on Sunday, but was good to on Tuesday. Heyward finished the game 2-for-5 and is hitting .238 with eight home runs. Heyward doesn’t offer much value outside […]

Addison Russell Hits Another Home Run

Jon Lester Posts A Dud On Tuesday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester had another disappointing performance on Tuesday versus the Astros. Over 5 2/3 innings, Lester allowed eight hits, seven runs, three walks and three strikeouts. Lester got off to a nice start in 2019, but has struggled big time in his last couple of starts. The rough outing raises the […]

James McCann Continues To Hit
