ANALYSIS: The Las Vegas Raiders found another franchise cornerstone with the sixth overall pick in this year's draft out of Boise State. Ashton Jeanty entered the draft as one of the best running back prospects of all time and will look to lead the Las Vegas rushing attack for he foreseeable future.
Jeanty will join an emerging offensive group in Las Vegas led by superstar tight end Brock Bowers.
During his final season at Boise State, Jeanty was named a consensus All-American and finished second in Heisman voting. During this campaign, Jeanty led the Mountain West Conference in rushing yards (2,601) and rushing touchdowns (29).
Jeanty figures to immediately emerge as the team's RB1, as the Raiders do not have many proven options in the depth chart. Currently, veteran Raheem Mostert is sitting at the RB2, but he is coming off the most inefficient season of his career, posting a low 3.3 YPC.
While the 21-year-old didn't have a very successful preseason, the Raiders were likely limiting his workload to preserve him for his expected role in the season. Given his role as the projected three-down back, fantasy managers should view Jeanty as a lineup-lock, low-end RB1 in all formats in Week 1 facing the New England Patriots.
