Defenseman Erik Gustafsson has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) to join the New York Islanders in training camp this week. The 29-year-old, who logged 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) in split time with the Flyers and Canadiens last season, will presumably attempt to secure a spot on the Isles' third defensive pairing. Gustafsson has established himself as a strong offensive blueliner in his five NHL season (highlighted by a 60-point campaign in 2018-2019 with the Hawks) but has bounced around a bit due to issues in his own zone. The Swedish native could carry fantasy value as a depth defenseman in deeper formats should he make the team.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
