Richard Childress Racing's Austin Dillon posted a best speed of 192.544 mph to secure the pole position for Sunday's GEICO 500 from Talladega Superspeedway. NASCAR confiscated the rear deck lid from his No. 3 Chevrolet on Friday, as officials found the rear deck to be out of compliance with the rule book. A NASCAR spokesperson said Saturday that any potential penalties for either crew chief Danny Stockman or the team would come after Sunday's race. However, with a new deck lid he was still able to nail down the pole, and there will be no penalties to serve prior to Sunday's race, so he'll go off from Row 1.--Daniel Dobish
