Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler (face) left the ice on a stretcher in the third period of Monday's 2-1 road loss against the Philadelphia Flyers after hitting face-first on the ice while defending against Philly forward Jakub Voracek. His stick appeared to get caught in Voracek's skates, pulling Edler to the ice. He was a bloody mess, and head coach Travis Green said Edler was taken for X-rays to check for possible facial fractures. Green added that he was uncertain how long the rearguard would be sidelined. As such, it's unlikely he is able to suit up for Tuesday's game in Washington, so look for Alex Biega to draw into the lineup.--Daniel Dobish
