Colorado Rockies first baseman Ian Desmond finally connected again for a big fly. Desmond smashed a three-run homer in the fourth inning off Derek Holland to help break Friday’s game open. It was Desmond’s first home run since May 6, and by tacking on a double as well, it was also his first multi-hit game since that date. Desmond continues to be terribly unproductive overall, but he is on pace to top 25 home runs and 80 RBI even though he’s hitting just .175 on the season. All his peripherals point at a turnaround coming, and owners will want to hop on this bandwagon if balls start falling his way.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
