Jesus Luzardo 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Projects as a High-End Strikeout Pitcher for the Phillies
Philadelphia Phillies left-handed starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo had a bit of an up-and-down season in his first year with the Phillies. He finished with a 3.92 ERA, 28.5 percent strikeout rate, and a 1.22 WHIP in 183 2/3 innings pitched, which was the most innings pitched for a season in his seven-year career. He had two starts, one in May and one in June, where he allowed 20 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings pitched. As a result, it skewed his overall ERA, and even then, he still finished the season as a reliable high-end arm for most fantasy managers. Most of his underlying numbers supported his results and suggested he was a bit unlucky on the season: a 3.33 xERA, 3.40 SIERA, and 3.25 xFIP. While there is some risk with Luzardo with injury history and durability, combined with his 4.19 career ERA, Luzardo projects to remain the team's No. 2 pitcher, behind Cristopher Sanchez, while Zack Wheeler (shoulder) works his way back from injury. Given his high strikeout upside, Luzardo holds SP2 upside in all formats. Considering he has shown a blow-up start once in a while, he is likely better suited to head-to-head formats than roto leagues. RotoBaller rankings have Luzardo as the 19th overall starting pitcher, and NFBC ADP has him at 81.0.
