Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 15:

Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson had a major bounce-back performance in Week 14, hauling in 11 catches for 142 yards with two touchdowns on 16 targets. The 25-year-old has stepped up in the Cardinals' offense over the last half of the season, with Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) bouncing in and out of the lineup.

In the last three games with Harrison out, Wilson has averaged 16.3 targets, 12 catches, 148.3 yards, and tallied 30.8 PPR points per game. Entering Week 15, Wilson is RotoBaller's 12th-ranked wide receiver in PPR leagues despite a difficult matchup against the Houston Texans.

The Texans' defense has allowed the fewest receiving touchdowns and the fourth-fewest receptions this season. With Harrison ruled out for a second straight week, Wilson should be viewed as a low-end WR1 in PPR formats that can garner enough targets to be inserted into fantasy lineups.

DK Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf (stomach), who went to a Baltimore hospital as a precaution after Sunday's win over the Ravens due to stomach pain, returned to practice on Thursday, according to Mike DeFabo. Head coach Mike Tomlin said earlier this week that he expects Metcalf to be available for the team's Week 15 contest on Monday night versus the visiting Miami Dolphins.

The 27-year-old went off for Pittsburgh on Sunday, setting season-highs in catches (seven), targets (12), and receiving yards (148) in the 27-22 victory. It was the first time that Metcalf hit the 100-yard mark since Sept. 28, and only the second time all year in his first season in Pittsburgh.

His fantasy managers will be hoping that he can keep it going into the fantasy playoffs in a plus matchup against Miami in primetime. Metcalf should be treated as a low-end WR2 in fantasy in Week 15. UPDATE: Metcalf was a full-go in Thursday's practice.

Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Week 15, which marks the start of the fantasy playoffs in many leagues, brings about an especially difficult call for fantasy managers who roster Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson ahead of a primetime game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. On one hand, Jefferson remains one of the game's best; he's healthy, and he's up against a Cowboys defense that has allowed more points to fantasy receivers than any other team.

On the other hand, the superstar receiver's recent lack of production is staggering. Jefferson hasn't finished among the top 20 PPR receivers since Week 9, and he has just 15 combined receiving yards in Minnesota's past two games. Managers who have been burned surely feel cautious; however, the matchup is favorable, and Jefferson is still too good to completely overlook.

Factoring in the offense's struggles as they break in quarterback J.J. McCarthy, Jefferson is more of a WR2/high-end flex, but there is serious potential against a Dallas defense that has given up a ton of production to wide receivers this season.

Rome Odunze, WR, Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears second-year wide receiver Rome Odunze (foot) is officially questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Browns after logging a week of limited practices. Odunze missed the team's Week 14 loss to the Packers with a foot injury that initially had him labeled as week-to-week.

He was unable to practice in any fashion leading up to that contest, so the upgrade to limited participation is at least a step in the right direction. Odunze started his sophomore campaign with a bang, scoring five touchdowns in his first four games, but he has found the endzone only once more since then.

The Bears' passing offense as a whole has been inconsistent for most of the year, and with a fantasy playoff schedule that includes the Browns and Packers, relying on an obviously banged-up Odunze may be too tall a task for most fantasy managers, even if he is able to suit up this week.

Ryan Flournoy, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy is considered a low-end desperation FLEX play in all standard leagues in Week 15. Flournoy saw his fantasy stock climb in Week 14 when he took on a larger role with CeeDee Lamb (concussion) exiting early with a concussion. In his absence, Flournoy slid in as the team's No. 2 WR opposite of George Pickens and was quite productive, catching nine of his 13 targets for 115 yards and a score.

However, with Lamb cleared to return, Flournoy quickly reverts to the No. 3 spot on the WR depth chart, and No. 4 option in the passing game, behind tight Jake Ferguson. During Weeks 11 through 13, with a full complement of Dallas pass catchers in the lineup, Flournoy brought in just four of his five targets for 36 yards and a score.

Even if Ferguson (calf) were to face a setback and not suit up, Flournoy would still carry desperation low-end FLEX value in deeper 14-team formats, given his placement on the depth chart. Flournoy has yet to carve out reliable targets with both Lamb and Pickens on the field, and his matchup against the elite Minnesota secondary makes him a high-risk fantasy option.

Rashid Shaheed, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Rashid Shaheed finally broke out as a member of the Seahawks in Week 14 against the Atlanta Falcons. Although his production was buoyed by a punt return for a touchdown, he could carry his six-target momentum into Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. Shaheed is still hovering around 50% of the offensive snaps, but Seattle seemed to make a point of getting him more involved down the field in Week 14.

Shaheed is a talented outside receiver. If he can receive more opportunities down the field rather than as a gadget player, he could be great for this team. The Colts are No. 27 against opposing wide receivers in fantasy. They have simply had issues containing wide receivers despite their addition of cornerback Sauce Gardner (calf) at the trade deadline.

Gardner is also out for this game If Seattle can continue to feed Shaheed, he could become a fantasy revelation over the final few weeks of the fantasy football playoffs. Keep an eye on Shaheed's production this week and consider throwing him on the back of your bench if you have the space.
