Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 15:
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders had his best game of the season in the Week 14 loss to the Tennessee Titans, completing 23 of 42 passes for 364 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while adding three carries for 29 yards and another score on the ground.
The rookie fifth-rounder is one of three players this season to record at least 300 passing yards with three passing touchdowns and a rushing score in the same game, joining Dak Prescott and Josh Allen. Sanders' standout performance led to head coach Kevin Stefanski announcing him as Cleveland's starting QB for the rest of the season. Sanders and the Browns nearly pulled off the comeback against the Titans, but came up short on a two-point conversion to tie the game.
The 23-year-old has flashed his fantasy upside in his three starts, but will face a challenge in Week 15 in severe weather conditions against a Chicago Bears defense that leads the league with 27 takeaways this season.
Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 281 yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers during Sunday's Week 14 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Stafford bounced back from an ugly three-turnover game against the Panthers last Sunday and should remain under consideration for the NFL MVP award. The 37-year-old has 30 touchdowns over his last 10 games, benefitting tremendously from the superstar-caliber play of wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
Stafford will continue to rank as a top-five fantasy quarterback heading into a Week 15 matchup against his old team, the Detroit Lions.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers finally found some success through the air during last week's win over the Baltimore Ravens. Rodgers threw for 284 yards with one touchdown, which was good enough for top-10 QB value in Week 14.
He also had a rushing TD. Before that, Rodgers was held to under 240 passing yards in his previous five contests. The expectation is that Rodgers will continue having success this weekend, assuming the Steelers remain aggressive through the air. He'll draw a favorable matchup against a Miami Dolphins defense that ranks 21st in fantasy points allowed to QBs.
Rodgers isn't an elite option, but he should offer more streaming value than usual in Week 15. He's certainly worth a look in two-quarterback leagues, at a minimum.
Tyler Shough, QB, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has finished as a QB1 in three of his last four starts, peaking at QB6 in a Week 14 upset of the Buccaneers. While he threw for only 144 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception, his day was buoyed by 55 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns.
He has now registered at least six carries in three straight games, topping 20 yards on the ground in two of three and showcasing a skillset that wasn't a huge part of his profile coming out of Louisville. Since taking over as the Saints starter in Week 9, he has demonstrated plus athleticism and a command of the offense, entering the conversation as a viable streamer.
Unfortunately, his first two fantasy playoff matchups are against the Panthers and Jets, both of whom have been challenging for fantasy quarterbacks. He does draw a favorable matchup against the Titans in Week 17, but most managers who reach the fantasy championship will have likely done so without needing to stream the position.
Bo Nix, QB, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had an efficient day through the air, leading his team to a 10th straight win on the season after defeating the Las Vegas Raiders 24-17. Nix finished the day completing 31 of 38 passes for 212 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions, while adding three carries for 15 yards and a rushing touchdown.
After such a disappointing performance in his Week 11 matchup against the Raiders, this was a healthy redemption game for him to correct his scoring floor before entering the fantasy playoffs. With the Green Bay Packers on deck for Week 15, Nix will face another challenging defense.
Marcus Mariota, QB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota will make his seventh start of the year in Week 15 against the division-rival New York Giants, according to The Washington Post's Tashan Reed. The Commanders have ruled out Jayden Daniels (elbow) after he aggravated his elbow injury in last week's blowout loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Daniels isn't dealing with a long-term injury, but with Washington's season essentially already over, the 32-year-old Mariota could end up starting the rest of the way for the Commanders. Although he doesn't offer a ton of fantasy football upside, Mariota has been pretty serviceable leading the team's offense in place of Daniels this year.
He's completed 62.9% of his 194 pass attempts for 1,389 yards, nine TDs, and seven interceptions. Mariota averaged 186.6 passing yards and 30.8 rushing yards per game from Weeks 8-13. Consider him a midrange QB2 option in superflex leagues this weekend versus the G-Men.
