Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave had a big game against the Bears in Week 7, recording five receptions for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
Olave now has 44 receptions for 440 yards and three touchdowns on the season and ranks second in the league in targets (71), trailing only Ja'Marr Chase (80). He's also in contract extension talks with New Orleans and has stated that he does not want to be moved. Olave has become the focal point of the Saints' passing offense, developing strong chemistry with Spencer Rattler.
He ranks as a high-end WR2 against a Buccaneers secondary that's allowing 7.0 yards per pass attempt and 229.0 passing yards per game.
George Pickens, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has been phenomenal this season, already producing 607 receiving yards and six touchdowns through seven weeks.
Pickens and the Cowboys are set to face the Denver Broncos in Week 8. Denver has been one of the league's top defenses, ranking in the top 10 against the pass and allowing just 180 passing yards per game.
Pickens' target share dropped last week with CeeDee Lamb back (16.7%), but with Denver expected to key on Lamb, Pickens is poised to continue his hot start to the season and step up in this pivotal Week 8 showdown. RotoBaller currently ranks Pickens as the WR14 for the week.
Matthew Golden, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden (hip) was added to Friday's injury report and was a limited participant in practice, according to the team.
The severity of Golden's injury is currently unknown, but a late-week addition to the injury report isn't ideal and puts his status in question for Sunday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The first-round pick out of Texas has been highly efficient so far this season, recording 18 receptions for 249 yards on 23 targets.
He is still searching for his first career touchdown, but he will get a good opportunity to find the end zone in Week 8 if he can suit up. The Steelers have allowed the ninth most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers, and just allowed Ja'Marr Chase to rack up 16 catches for 161 yards and a touchdown in Week 7.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton comes into Week 8 as RotoBaller's eighth overall-ranked wide receiver in an advantageous matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at home.
With the Cowboys having a league-worst average of 260.3 passing yards allowed, Sutton should be able to continue racking up chunk plays when his name is called. The Cowboys have also given up 16 touchdowns through the air so far this season, leaving Sutton with some upside to reach the endzone this week.
Sutton currently has an average of 67 receiving yards per game on the season and should certainly be trusted as a WR1 in lineups for Week 8.
Ricky Pearsall, WR, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been unable to capitalize on the myriad injuries plaguing the team's offense.
After serving a three-game suspension, Robinson had a one-game tuneup in Week 4 before being thrust into the starting lineup with Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs, shoulder) both succumbing to injuries. Robinson managed just three catches for 39 yards on seven targets with both receivers out in Week 5. After Jennings returned to action in Week 6, Robinson's snaps and targets plummeted.
Pearsall has been declared out for Week 8, but with Jennings on the mend and George Kittle in his second week back from injured reserve, Robinson has no place on San Francisco's offense. Robinson projects as a WR6/7 this week and can be safely left on benches, if not the waiver wire.
